Seahawks Sign Former Browns Defensive Tackle

The Seattle Seahawks announced that they have signed former Cleveland Browns defensive tackle Roderick Perry II.

Perry, who signed with the Browns last season as an undrafted free agent out of Illinois, in 2022. He spent most of the season on the teams practice squad but did see some game action playing in two games and ended up recording two tackles. He signed a futures contract with the team at the end of the season but was eventually waived.

Last years coaching staff seemed to think Perry had potential to be a plugger up the middle in the run game. At one point he was seeing some snaps ahead of their fourth round pick Perrion Winfrey during last preseason. However, we would later find out that was probably discipline related.

The signing was just one of what seemed to be a flurry of defensive tackle signings across the league today. Earlier in the day, the Dolphins signed former Lions veteran defensive tackle Da'Shawn Hand and the Texans signed former Tampa Bay Buccaneer defensive tackle Khalil Davis, who also played last season for the USFL champion Birmingham Stallions.

The pool of available defensive tackles continues to shrink as teams solidify their rosters heading into their first preseason games. The Browns seem to be waiting out the market for players they have already been in contact with and I do believe they will add someone soon. I wrote some additional thoughts about the potential options for our defensive tackle room and when the team may sign one. You can read that here.
