Several Teams Reached Out To Joe Flacco While He Was On Browns' Practice Squad

NFL Network's Ian Rapaport reported that while Joe Flacco was on the Browns' practice squad, some teams did reach out to lure him out of Cleveland.

Joe Flacco received no phone calls while he was a free agent this season. That may come as a surprise seeing how many teams need a quarterback and have experienced problems at the position.

Flacco stayed in shape all season long with the hopes that one team would give him a call. It finally came in Week 12 after the Browns lost Deshaun Watson for the remainder of the season.

Flacco came to Cleveland and was thrown right into the fire. In his first game with the team, he was on the sidelines in street clothes watching the Browns take on the Denver Broncos. During that game, Dorian Thompson-Robinson suffered a concussion and was out for the upcoming week.

The Browns would give Flacco the keys to the offense and he's held them ever since, but his first couple weeks with the team were spent as a practice squad player, meaning he was available to sign with any team if he so wished.

On Sunday, NFL Network's Ian Rapaport reported that Flacco was in demand before being signed to the Browns active roster just this past week.

According to Rapoport, "several (teams) did (reach out) once Flacco was on Cleveland's practice squad." He added that it was never likely that a team would lure the veteran quarterback out of Ohio.

Fans will love to hear that Flacco's heart with with Cleveland and that it was never likely that he was going to leave the Browns, who were the first team to offer him a job this season

The 16-year veteran has made such a connection with this team that he wanted to stay here and make his mark. Now that he is signed to the 53-Man roster, it is his time to push this team to a playoff birth and beyond.
