Should Browns Consider Trading For Former All-Pro Left Tackle?
The Cleveland Browns have continually boasted one of the best offensive lines in football in recent years. This season, however, a chink in the armor has emerged in the form of 2020 first-round pick Jedrick Wills, who has struggled mightily as the team's starting left tackle.
Week-after-week, Wills seems to provide a lowlight reel for fans to dissect on social media. According to PFF, Wills has a season grade of 45.4 and his pass-blocking efficiency ranking through four weeks ranked 59th overall.
Browns general manager claimed during his annual bye week press conference that 'Wills is an important player for the franchise moving forward,' but even for Berry, Wills’ struggles have to be getting difficult to shake off with a robotic press conference response.
There is a lot at stake for the Browns this season, leaving team brass with plenty to consider as the trade deadline approaches on October 31. Should Berry decide to address his team's left tackle situation he may have an obvious option available to them.
As the Denver Broncos season continues to spiral out of control following a loss to the Aaron Rodgers-less Jets, the organization may consider a fire sale in three weeks, and if they do, starting left tackle Garett Bolles could be shopped.
A change of scenery may do Bolles some good, considering just a week ago he was pointing out the Broncos penchant for losing since he arrived as a first-round pick in 2017. Cleveland would provide a perfect place for Bolles to step into an organization that is in win now mode, while the Browns could shore up a weakness along their offensive line.
Prior to this weekend's loss to the Jets, Bolles ranked 42nd as a run blocker according to PFF, and 12th in pass blocking.
What it would take to acquire Bolles remains to be seen, but it doesn't hurt for Berry to inquire about the 31-year-old's availability.
