Watch: Voice Of The Browns Jim Donovan Celebrates Completion Of Cancer Treatments

The play-by-play voice of the Cleveland Browns missed a number of games this past season while battling cancer, and celebrated the completion of his treatments on Thursday.

There were no shortage of feel good stories for the Browns in 2023. None of them were more personal for the fan base than following along with play-by-play man Jim Donovan's battle with cancer.

Donovan learned last year that the leukemia that had been in remission since 2011 had returned and instantly began treatments to beat the disease a second time. His battle forced him to miss much of the Browns season, calling the Week 1 opener before returning to the booth Novmber to call Cleveland's Week 11 matchup with the Steelers.

Donovan'a return came at the perfect time as he was fortunate to set the scene for most of the Browns magical run to the playoffs at the end of the season. About a month and half after the Browns memorable season came to an end, Donovan had something else to celebrate as he was captured ringing the bell at University Hospitals, following the completion of his cancer treatments.

“Twenty-five up, 25 down. What a team I had. What an honor,” Donovan said of his milestone. “Ring the bell three times.”

He also noted that he will be starting a new phase of treatment. He also was sure to thank his team of doctors for their efforts.

"They became the everyday partners for me and we got through it and they made it so great for me to get through it,” he stated.

Donovan took the mantle of the radio "Radio Voice of the Cleveland Browns," in 1999 and held the title ever since. This past season marked his 25th in the Browns broadcast booth.
