Walk-Thru Notes: The Final Stories Before Browns vs Seahawks
Another drama-filled week has come and gone for the Cleveland Browns. Now it is time to just play football. No more questions about the quarterback, no more having to answer for the lack of offense. No more injury talk – until Monday at least.
Today the Browns will head west for a 4:05 pm EST kickoff Sunday, against the Seattle Seahawks on Fox.
Not only is traveling across the country a challenge but doing so to face a very good football team makes it even tougher. The Seahawks are 4-2 on the season and are on the cusp of taking over first place in the competitive NFC West.
The Browns on the other hand, limp to Seattle still battling an injury bug, but have been able to keep things afloat to stand at 4-2 themselves.
This is a huge opportunity for Cleveland to continue its win streak and move to 5-2 on the year. Frankly, they have to win to stay close in the crazy AFC North Race.
The over-arching theme on Sunday is going to be who can win the ground game. Both of these teams struggle to throw the football. The Browns are ranked 31st in the league throwing for 171.1 yards per game and the Seahawks' 224.2 yards per game places them at 21st in the league.
The Browns enter Sunday with the second-best yards per game average on the ground at 147.5 yards per game while the Seahawks' 106.0 yards per game is good for 19th in the league.
Whichever side is able to get the ground game going on Sunday will have a really good chance to win. If the Browns can run the ball effectively and not turn it over, they will put themselves in position to come home with their third straight victory.
