Watch: Browns Defense Debuts New Pregame Ritual Prior To 49ers Game

Defensive Coordinator Jim Schwartz has the Browns off to a historic start that has locker room beaming with confidence

All the great NFL defenses in history seem to develop a notable personality and nickname. There was the "Legion of Boom," in Seattle. The "Monsters of the Midway" in Chicago. Even the "Purple People Eaters" in Minnesota.

The 2023 Cleveland Browns defensive unit may be worthy of a nickname of their own pretty soon if they keep up their historic start to the season.

While a nickname for this dominant group may still be in the works, that unique personality is already taking shape.

Browns third year cornerback, Greg Newsome II took to X to share a video of what looks like a new pregame ritual for members of the Browns defense. In it, Newsome is seen with a massive boombox hosted on his shoulder, blasting 50 Cent's, "I'll Whip Ya Head Boy,"as his defensive teammates gather around and they proceed to run out of the tunnel to take on the San Francisco 49ers.

Objectively, it's a pretty cool scene. It is also a testament to the level of confidence Jim Schwartz has his group playing with at the moment.

The Browns defense has certainly earned the right to publicly display their personality and swagger. Through five games, Cleveland has allowed just 1,002 yards of total offense to its opponents, the lowest figure through five games in over 50 years. As a unit, they're also allowing just over 15 points per game, 121.4 passing yards per game and have given up just 52 first downs.

There may be a fine line between confident and cocky, but as long as the Browns defense continues backing it up on the field, expect them to keep letting it all hang out.
