Which Browns Player Was Named A First Team All-Pro?
The Cleveland Browns had one representative on the All-Pro lists from the Associated Press for the 2023 season.
DE Myles Garrett was named a First Team All-Pro player for the third time in his career and first since 2021, leading all edge rushers in the NFL in votes. He edged out Cowboys edge rusher Micah Parsons and Raiders edge rusher Maxx Crosby, who both made the second team.
Garrett has been the unquestioned MVP of the defense — and entire Browns team — in his seventh NFL season. He led the Browns with 14 sacks, which was tied for seventh in the NFL, and also logged four forced fumbles. His 86 quarterback pressures this season, per Pro Football Focus, were the most in his career.
The honor for Garrett is a good sign that he’s the frontrunner to also win Defensive Player of the Year for the first time in his career. Even though he’s not atop the league in sacks, Garrett’s consistent success in reaching the quarterback has made him arguably the most challenging edge rusher in the league for offensive coordinators to plan against.
Head coach Kevin Stefanski gave a rousing testament to Garrett’s season in December, saying “I don’t think it’s close” when asked about his chances to win DPOY.
"To get so wrapped up as we do as a football society, when it comes to sacks, I mean, just talk about the guy that affects the game, that pressures the quarterback, that plays the run, that plays with unbelievable effort," Stefanski said. "He's the best player on the best defense in the league right now. Go put the tape on. ... watch how they try to block him."
Garrett will find out if he can add the DPOY accolade to his 2023 shelf on Feb. 8.
