Browns Film Breakdown: How Cleveland Came Back To Beat The Bears
For the better part of three quarters, things seemed bleak for the Cleveland Browns as they struggled to get much of anything going offensively against a stingy Bears defense.
Since joining the team following Week 11,and taking over as the starter in Week 13, veteran quarterback Joe Flacco was in the midst of his worst outing as a member of the Browns. The 38-year-old had completed only 17 of his 31 pass attempts for 162 yards, a touchdown and three costly interceptions.
He'd shake it off to post an absolutely blistering fourth quarter, completing 11-of-13 passes, for 212 yards and another score. It was one of the more remarkable bounce back efforts in recent memory.
Of course, Flacco couldn't have done it without a dominant effort from Cleveland's defense, that shut the Bears out in the final quarter of play and really only gave up three points for the entire game when you factor in turnovers that either led directly to points or set Chicago up with a short field.
In the latest episode of Brownie Breakdowns, Anthony Moeglin and I start from the beginning of Cleveland's wild win to show what exactly went wrong offensive for the majority of Sunday's game and what changed that allowed the Browns to mount their comeback from down 10.
Each of Flacco's three interceptions make an appearance as we provide context as to who was at fault for each. We also heap praise on Flacco for some incredible decision making like on his touchdowns to David Njoku and Amari Cooper, and of course for his brilliant fourth quarter.
We also discuss whether or not Bears QB, Justin Fields deserves more respect that he probably gets at times, nationally.
Our discussion also includes the play of the game: Cameron Mitchell's shoestring tackle of Fields that forced a turnover on downs on the first play of the fourth. And of course Hail Mary that nearly spoiled a thrilling Browns victory.
