Bucs Host Another Talented SEC Edge Rusher for Top 30 Visit

The Buccaneers are doing their due-diligence on this year's crop of edge rushers.

It's no secret that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers need to improve when it comes to rushing the quarterback. Which is why it makes perfect sense that the Bucs are guaranteed to address this need (in some capacity) through the upcoming NFL draft.

Their interest in this year's crop of edge rushers tells us as much.

Having already brought Nolan Smith (Georgia) in for a top-30 visit last week, the Buccaneers are continuing to put themselves in a position to get a closer look at some of the top edge rushing prospects this year's draft class has to offer.

This time, LSU's BJ Ojulari is the player that Tampa Bay is reportedly bringing in for a top-30 visit.

The younger brother of New York Giants' edge rusher, Azeez Ojulari (a second-round pick out of Georgia), B.J. is a stand-up rusher out of LSU with a ton of natural ability. He's a player with good size, burst, bend, and plenty of other attributes that offer great appeal to NFL scouts. He spent three years in Baton Rouge, amassing a total of 16.5 sacks and 25.5 tackles for loss during his time.

Ojulari has the potential to develop into a legitimate starting edge rusher in the NFL but will need to clean up some things in order to reach that potential. The most common critique of his play centers around a lack of commitment and discipline defending the run.

But what prospects don't have parts of their game that could be improved?

Aside from Joe Tryon-Shoyinka and Logan Hall — both of whom are still trying to find their footing in the league — the Buccaneers don't have a ton of young talent along their defensive line.

Adding a player like BJ Ojulari on the second day of the NFL draft could be a major coup for the Buccaneers. Not only would it address an obvious need on the roster, but if you ask me, it would be good value for a player who has the potential to develop into a double-digit sack artist at the NFL level.

It's good to see the Buccaneers doing their due diligence on this year's crop of edge rusher prospects.

As they should.
