Bruce Arians frustrated by Jameis Winston's six-turnover performance
Despite racking up way more total yards, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers fell to the Carolina Panthers 37-26 in London on Sunday, thanks in large part to a whopping seven turnovers.
Bucs quarterback Jameis Winston tossed a career-high five interceptions, and fumbled twice on back-to-back plays, losing the second one deep in Carolina Panthers territory near the end of the half. The fumble killed a key drive that could have cut the Panthers' lead to just one score in the final seconds of the second quarter.
After the game, Bucs head coach Bruce Arians was clearly frustrated by Winston's inability to take care of the ball throughout the game.
Winston has turned the ball over more than any quarterback in the entire NFL since entering the league in 2015, and in the final year of his contract, needs a strong year to warrant a long-term extension.
After a disappointing Week 1 performance, Winston had put together a solid four-week stretch prior to Sunday's loss, throwing 10 touchdown passes to just two interceptions, putting him second in the NFL in touchdown passes behind Seattle's Russell Wilson.
As the Bucs head into a much-needed bye week in Week 7, Winston will no doubt be doing everything he can to eliminate the turnovers we saw Sunday, while the coaching staff should be working to put him in better situations and setting him up for success.
