Antonio Brown Blames CTE on Former Teammate

This time it involves CTE - which Brown says was caused by a former teammate.

It's always interesting when former NFL star and Buccaneer, Antonio Brown makes his way into the news. Whether it's Mr. Big Chest, going after Tom Brady, or other troubles, there's no telling what kind of controversy Brown will bring.

This time, it's pretty hard to wrap your head around. While hosting an Instagram live session on Friday, the former First-Team All-Pro wide receiver made an outrageous claim. Brown stated that his former teammate in Pittsburgh, James Harrison, wore an illegal helmet and hit him one time which led to him having CTE.

“I wanted to tell you guys that I think James Harrison gave me CTE,” Brown said on IG Live. “James Harrison had an illegal helmet for over 20 years in the NFL. And he hit me one time. And ever since he hit me I’ve been super aggressive. So blame James Harrison for my CTE.”

Things just continue to get more bizarre for Brown. Not only did Harrison only play 16 years in the league (not 20) but CTE is a debilitation that cannot be officially confirmed until after death.

To his credit, James Harrison provided a little comic relief to the strange situation on social media.

The two were teammates 2010-12 and 2014-17 with the Steelers. During that time, Brown suffered a couple of brutal hits at the hands of former Cincinnati Bengals linebacker, Vontaze Burfict.

Brown hasn't played in the NFL since famously removing his pads and leaving the sideline to depart for the locker room in the third quarter of Tampa Bay's game against the Jets in 2022. It doesn't appear that he'll be back in the league anytime with his continued antics.

Barring a return to the NFL, Brown played 12 years and appeared in 146 games, with 110 starts, catching 928 passes for 12,291 yards and 83 touchdowns.
