BREAKING: Buccaneers Reportedly Agree To $100 Million Deal With Baker Mayfield
There has been a ton of chatter surrounding what would happen with Baker Mayfield as the 2024 free agency period came about. Mayfield had let it be known that if the Buccaneers were able to pull together things that would align with winning football games then he would want to stay in Tampa Bay following his one-year prove-it deal with the team in 2023.
There seemed to be many suitors for Baker's services. Names like the Atlanta Falcons, Minnesota Vikings, and New England Patriots have all been thrown around when discussing who was watching the talks between the Bucs and Mayfield in case the latter decided to go a different direction rather than returning to Tampa Bay.

That didn't happen.
Mayfield and the Buccaneers were able to come to an agreement on a three-year/$100 million extension with $50 million guaranteed that will keep the veteran QB in Tampa Bay, per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
In 2023, Baker Mayfield turned in perhaps the best season of his career - looking to find a way back to being one of the elite quarterbacks in the league. He did just that posting career highs in passing yards and passing touchdowns. The future of Mayfield returning to the Bucs was a question mark following the departure of former OC Dave Canales, but the staff were able to go out and hire a familiar face to Baker in former Kentucky and Rams' OC Liam Coen.
Then the re-signing of Mike Evans happened and it became all that more evident that the Bucs would do everything in their power to bring Baker back into the fold no matter what it took.
The Buccaneers' top brass, specifically GM Jason Licht have done a phenomenal job at making things work in their favor over the past five seasons or so and continue to show why they should be viewed as a top-10 management group in the league.
Now, being settled in Tampa Bay for the foreseeable future, Baker can relax a bit and start focusing on winning games and going further into the playoffs in the hopes of bringing a third Lombardi Trophy back to the city.
