Buccaneers' First Round Draft Pick Already Talking Matchup With No. 1 Overall Pick Bryce Young
General Manager Jason Licht and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers seemingly had another successful draft this year as evidenced by the overwhelming grades they received from media outlets around the country.
Perhaps the biggest pick on everyone's mind leading up to the draft was what the Bucs' plans were in the first round. Many believed they would possibly move up to take one of the better quarterbacks of the draft or potentially stay put and land one of the marquee offensive tackles to sure up their offensive line. Neither happened.

Instead, the Buccaneers stood pat at pick No. 19 and chose one of the drafts top-rated defensive linemen, Calijah Kancey out of the University of Pittsburgh.
With the expectations that the Bucs would look at a different position rather than DL, the pick was not only shocking to those watching, but also to Kancey.
Shortly after being drafted, Kancey joined The Ronnie and TKras Show on 95.3 WDAE to discuss being drafted by the Buccaneers and the new face on the defensive line didn't disappoint in his answers specifically when it came to his thoughts on facing the No. 1 overall pick, Bryce Young, twice a year in Carolina.
“I’m sorry Tom, but Bryce Young has to see me two times a year,” Kancey said with the kind of swagger you found feel oozing through the phone line.
The confidence shown by Kancey is exactly what you want out of your first-round draft pick. Young may eventually become the best quarterback in the NFC South, but having to go against a hungry and confident defense can deter things for a young quarterback.
In just his short time as a Buccaneer, Kancey has already shown the front office, coaching staff, and players what he can and will provide, but now, following his post-draft interviews Buccaneers' fans should be hopping right on board with extreme optimism of what he can bring to the team - now and beyond.
