Buccaneers' GM Jason Licht Comments on Potential Mike Evans Trade

Tampa Bay Buccaneers' general manager Jason Licht provided his thoughts on a potential trade involving WR Mike Evans.
In this story:

The National Football League's trade deadline is quickly approaching and it has been perceived that the Buccaneers will stand pat with where they are currently at, but things in the NFL are never as they seem.

One of the hotter potential names from the Tampa Bay roster who has been considered a trade candidate is wide receiver Mike Evans.

Prior to the season, Evans' camp made it known to the Buccaneers' brass that they would have liked to get a contract extension nailed out before week one of the NFL season. That ultimately didn't transpire and thus began the talks surrounding what would eventually become of Mike Evans in a Bucs' uniform.

With the trade deadline looming at 4:00 pm ET, the Buccaneers could listen to offers for the star wide receiver, but from recent comments from Bucs' general manager Jason Licht, it does not appear that the team will be willing to deal the 4x-Pro Bowl wideout.

“I'm really looking forward to Mike continuing his great career here in Tampa and extending his streak 1000 yard seasons here with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers,” Licht said when making an appearance on Good Morning Football.

Evans is on par with his previous nine seasons of reaching 1,000 receiving yards and from Licht's comments he wants Evans to remain on the team to achieve that high-setting goal of 10 consecutive seasons with 1,000 yards.

Even if the Buccaneers stand with Licht's statements it will be interesting to see what will unfold following the 2023 season when Evans will get the opportunity to test free agency.
