Buccaneers' Hall of Famer Rips Cam Newton for His Take on 49ers' QB Brock Purdy

Former Buccaneers' defensive lineman Warren Sapp had some comments regarding Cam Newton's take on San Francisco 49ers' QB Brock Purdy.

Hall of Fame Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive lineman Warren Sapp is no stranger to controversy after running into many times throughout his playing days and even afterward. Although he has tempered down a bit, he still will make his opinions known about certain topics.

And that is exactly what he did when addressing former Carolina Panthers' QB Cam Newton's comments about 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy being just a 'game manager' at the position when making an appearance on Jason Whitlock's show "Fearless".

Eagles Star Jason Kelce Praises Buccaneers' Baker Mayfield, Ryan Jensen

“Cam is just being an ass. I don’t know why but he is. Brock Purdy did a milk check at the end of that game. Did you see it when he took off for a first down? Good ol milk check… I don’t know why Cam is so angry… If you wasn’t THAT guy, let’s not get on these podcasts talking like you was THAT guy… Cam, you were a glorified running back, son.”

Whew, that is some great content.

Cam's doubling down on Purdy not being one of the top-10 guys on his own is shocking and Whitlock and Sapp discussed how that wasn't the case, but of course, Sapp took things a bit further calling the former NFL MVP a glorified running back during his time in the league - WITH stats to back up his argument.

Sapp is never scared to set the record straight, no matter if he is right or wrong, but in this instance, I think it safe to say that he has a pretty good fight in this battle considering that he has led the 49ers to a Super Bowl in just his first season as the full-time starter after being drafted as Mr. Irrelevant just a couple seasons ago while breaking records along the way.
