Bucs’ HC Todd Bowles Releases Statement Regarding Tom Brady's Retirement
Tom Brady announced his decision to retire from the NFL exactly a year after he retired for the first time. Brady spent three seasons in Tampa Bay before deciding to trade in his cleats for a microphone and sailing off into the Florida sunset.
During his time in Tampa Bay, he was able to bring the franchise its second Lombardi Trophy in his first season under then head coach, Bruce Arians. Arians retired as an NFL head coach after Brady's second season and immediately announced that he would be handing the keys over to defensive coordinator, Todd Bowles, to become the Bucs' next head coach.
Bowles was Brady's last head coach and had some thoughtful words when speaking about the respect and admiration that he has for him.

“I have always had the utmost respect for Tom Brady as a football player, as a winner and as a person. It wasn’t until he joined us three years ago that I was able to truly appreciate him as a teammate. Even before I became head coach, we communicated often and had a strong relationship built on mutual respect and a desire to win. That connection only grew over this past season as we fought to get the most out of our football team. I greatly appreciate the leadership he provided and am thankful our time together.”
Brady and Bowles didn't seem to communicate with one another all that much on game days, but behind the scenes there was a relationship that was built that will last a lifetime between the two.
Moving forward, Bowles and the Buccaneers will need to figure out what direction they want to go in to try and continue their level of success that was seen during the Brady era. For now, they will soak it all in and give thanks for what Brady was not only able to do for their franchise, but for the game of football as a whole.
