Buccaneers' Head Coach Todd Bowles Receives 2023 NFL Season Award Votes
Through the eyes of most Buccaneers' fans and those who cover the NFL, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers had a successful season. They were doubted all offseason before proving that they were a top team in the league by making the playoffs and winning their Wild Card game against the Eagles.
A large portion of the Bucs' success this season can be attributed to the level of play from the players, but without a cohesive unit in the coaching staff, much of what was accomplished by this season's team would not have been possible. At moments during the season, there were definitely some question marks on whether the Bucs had gotten it right by continuing to roll with Todd Bowles as head coach and their hire of first-year play-caller Dave Canales as the OC, but they eventually answered all of those questions as the season progressed.
Patrick Mahomes Still Considers Tom Brady the Greatest Quarterback of All Time
As with every end of the season, the NFL announces their year-end award winners, and although they weren't even close to winning, it was a positive sign to see the aforementioned Buccaneers' coaches at least receiving votes for Coach of the Year and Assistant Coach of the Year.
Head coach Todd Bowles received one third-place vote for coach of the year giving him one point and a three-way tie for 10th with the Dolphins' Mike McDaniel and the Bills' Sean McDermott.
Former Buccaneers' offensive coordinator and new Panthers' head coach Dave Canales collected two third-place points to also place in 10th for Assistant Coach of the Year. Even gaining votes as a first-year play caller is a tremendous feat for Canales and it goes even further to show why he was highly thought of by the Carolina Panthers to become their next head coach.
