BREAKING: Buccaneers' Re-Sign Defensive Star As They Continue to Bolster Roster
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers, fresh off a third consecutive NFC South Division title, have plenty of stars on the roster. Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, Tristan Wirfs, Vita Vea and Antoine Winfield Jr. are all deserving of 'star status' based on their sustained excellence over the course of their respective careers.
The Buccaneers should feel lucky about the foundation they have in place with each of those star players locked in for at least another season in red and pewter.

The team also recently came to an agreement on a new 3-year, $100M contract with quarterback, Baker Mayfield, just one day before free agency commenced.
However, there was still work to be done, and the Bucs retained another important piece on Tuesday.
The Tampa Bay Times' Rick Stroud reported Tuesday that Tampa Bay's front office has come to terms with linebacker Lavonte David on a new contract to ensure one of their most important players will remain in red and pewter for at least one more season.
Ian Rapoport broke the news, including the terms and contract details. As expected, it's a one-year contract for Lavonte, with a base value of $9 million and the potential to reach $10 million.
Despite David's long list of accomplishments over the past 11 seasons in Tampa, this is much more than just a sentimental signing. Lavonte David will play a major role for the Buccaneers this season. Not only is he an exceptional coverage linebacker, but his ability to shed blocks, diagnose and pursue plays against the run, and even rush the passer when needed, makes him a dynamic force in the middle of Todd Bowles' defense.
Throw in the fact that he's one of the hardest workers in the building, a respected leader amongst his peers, and an all-time fan favorite, and it becomes that much more clear that signing Lavonte David for another season is a home run for Jason Licht and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
