Buccaneers Announce Re-Signing of Longtime Tampa Bay Veteran
Buccaneers fans rejoiced when Tampa Bay staple Lavonte David returned to the fold earlier this offseason, but he wasn't the only longtime Bucs veteran on the team. There was another player who had been in red and pewter for a decade, and now, he's coming back to the team, too.
The Buccaneers announced on Monday that Tampa Bay mainstay William Gholston is returning to the Bucs for his 12th seaosn in the NFL. Gholston has spent his previous 11 with the Buccaneers, and he'll be back this upcoming season once again as the team pushes to win another division title.
Gholston first joined the Bucs in 2013 when he was selected in the fourth round by Tampa Bay out of Michigan State. Since then, he's been a stalwart on the Tampa Bay defensive line, playing at least 14 games in his past 10 seasons. He's amassed 259 solo tackles, 19.5 sacks, three fumble recoveries and one interception.
Gholston was also a contributor in Tampa Bay's Super Bowl run, playing in all four playoff games that year. He's played in every Bucs playoff game since 2020, in fact, remaining a constant rotational piece.
The Bucs drafted Logan Hall in a move that man believed was made to replace Gholston, but Gholston has re-signed with the team every year since. The two will continue to work together on the defensive line once more as he comes back for his 12th NFL season.
