Tampa Bay's All-Pro offensive tackle is laying the groundwork for getting to know a new quarterback, if one comes.

We've been talking about what's next for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for what feels like a much longer time period considering quarterback Tom Brady was only here for three seasons.

Just about every name under the sun has been presented as a potential replacement for Brady, including third-year Bucs player Kyle Trask, franchise-tagged Lamar Jackson, and free-agent to be Baker Mayfield.

Tampa Bay's All-Pro caliber offensive tackle Tristan Wirfs already knows Trask obviously, but apparently, he's taking steps toward getting to know either Jackson or Mayfield in case one of them were to land with the team this offseason.

In a video tweeted by Kenny Morales of Spectrum Bay News 9, Wirfs says, “I don’t pay too close attention to it. I did follow Baker on Instagram, maybe tag him, he didn’t follow me back. I also followed Lamar. I don’t know…just in preparation if something does happen I’m ready.”

This isn't the first time Wirfs has begun a relationship with a quarterback on social media.

After he was drafted in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft, Brady messaged him on Instagram to begin getting to know each other.

In fact, Brady and Wirfs got so comfortable communicating in person or on social media that two years after both players joined the Buccaneers the young tackle still hadn't gotten his legendary quarterback's phone number.

Wirfs didn't need Brady's number to help win Super Bowl No. 7 back then, and if either Mayfield or Jackson ends up following the offensive tackle back, the Bucs are hoping it'll be the first connection that helps the franchise win its third Lombardi Trophy.
