Buccaneers Quarterback Baker Mayfield Dealing With Lingering Knee Injury
Two weeks ago, Tampa Bay Buccaneers starting quarterback Baker Mayfield could be seen messing with his knee after coming off the field late against the Atlanta Falcons. Many might not have noticed it, but those paying close attention could definitely see Baker was a bit uncomfortable while examining himself.
There was not much attention paid to whether or not he was dealing with a serious issue, but when the Bucs made their way to play the Buffalo Bills on Thursday Night Football Mayfield donned a brace on his left knee. This ultimately confirmed that he was indeed dealing with some sort of injury - albeit something he could play through.

According to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler, that is exactly what Bake will do unless further injury occurs.
Mayfield is apparently dealing with a contusion, or better known as a bruise, in his left knee that has caused him discomfort. Contusions usually do not keep players out from playing and aren't considered all that serious, but as Fowler points out if it happens in the right area then it can cause the player to feel uncomfortable and think about it more.
On the bright side, the Buccaneers have 10 days off between their last game against the Bills and their upcoming road matchup against the Houston Texans, so Mayfield will have time to rest the knee during that time. Baker has exemplified toughness and resiliency throughout his career and this injury seems to have no impact on changing that.

Mayfield's play has slipped a bit since getting off to a hot start that saw the Buccaneers go 3-1. Some have been questioning whether he is the guy or not and fans have begun to wonder if it is time to see what backup Kyle Trask can do in a live regular-season game. At this point, however, Baker is the Bucs' guy and will continue to man the starting position.
