Buccaneers Quarterback Baker Mayfield Got Massive Pay Day for Beating Eagles

Mayfield continues to cash in for his impressive season in Tampa Bay.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers pulled off one of the most shocking victories on Wild Card Weekend after taking down the Super Bowl runner-ups from last year, the Philadelphia Eagles, in Raymond James Stadium. The Buccaneers were led on offense by quarterback Baker Mayfield, who is in the midst of a comeback season for the ages,

After being left for dead in Carolina a year ago and being forced to sign a one-year, prove-it deal with the Buccaneers, Mayfield has been on a revenge tour over the last couple of months. That journey reached a new peak on Monday night as he became the first quarterback in franchise history to throw for over 300 passing yards and three touchdowns in a playoff game. In total, he completed 22/36 passes for 307 yards with three touchdowns and zero interceptions, outperforming and outclassing Jalen Hurts.

Baker Mayfield Gets Massive Pay Day if Buccaneers Win NFC South

Mayfield is being rewarded for his performance after crushing another incentive in his contract. He's got an opportunity to put even more cash in his pocket if he can guide the Buccaneers to another postseason upset. According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Mayfield earned $250,000 for taking down the Eagles and he'll net the same amount for every victory that Tampa Bay can garner during the playoffs.

The former No. 1 overall pick was only guaranteed $4 million when the season started. However, his bet on himself is quickly paying off for his bank account. Mayfield previously accumulated $3 million in bonuses for helping Tampa Bay win the NFC South and make the postseason along with playing time incentives. He can also still earn $1.5 million for performance-based incentives.

This has quickly turned into a career year for Mayfield as he completed 364/566 passes (64.3%) for 4,044 yards with 28 touchdowns to ten interceptions. He also added 163 yards and a score on the ground during the regular season.

With Mayfield up for an extension this offseason, it makes sense for the Buccaneers to work with the veteran signal-caller to lock in what could be a bright future alongside Todd Bowles and Dave Canales.

Tampa Bay's playoff journey continues against Detroit on Sunday afternoon.
