Buccaneers Sign Super Bowl Champion Los Angeles Rams Quarterback
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers went into the 2023 NFL draft with the understanding that they made need to add another quarterback to their QB room after the retirement of Tom Brady, Blaine Gabbert leaving in free agency, Kyle Trask being the only guy, and then the eventual one-year signing of Baker Mayfield.
The Bucs' coaching staff and front office made it known that it was more than likely that the starting QB spot would be worked out during the offseason between Trask and Mayfield but also noted that they weren't afraid to look for another quarterback in the draft or free agency to round out the room.
Well, the first option of snagging a quarterback in the draft did not pan out for the Bucs, so now they set their sights on signing one of the guys left in free agency.

According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, the Buccaneers have found their guy to help fill out the quarterback position group heading into the offseason in the form of former Los Angeles Rams' quarterback John Wolford.
The former undrafted free agent out of Wake Forest in 2018 will now join Trask and Mayfield as the Bucs' quarterbacks entering the 2024 NFL season.
Wolford has not seen much playing time since entering the league, but has spent much of his career backing up Matt Stafford in LA and even got some starts under his belt in 2022 as the Rams were dealing with numerous injuries at the position. In his three starts last season, Wolford went 38/62 for 390 yards and 1 touchdown to 3 interceptions.

Wolford won't blow anyone away with his abilities, but will definitely be a serviceable backup to both Trask and Mayfield. The Bucs now have depth at the quarterback position and will now look to find a practice squad quarterback and Bucs' fans can now turn their attention to who wins the starting quarterback battle between Trask and Mayfield.
