Bucs' Linebacker Devin White Regrets Trade Request: "I'm Stupid For Trying to Leave!"
It wasn't that long ago that Tampa Bay Buccaneers' start linebacker, Devin White, took to social media to express his displeasure with his current contract, and requested a trade from the team.
As a result, there was plenty of speculation regarding whether or not the Buccaneers would actually consider trading White as he entered the final year of his rookie contract. And if not, would White even report to Bucs' training camp?
It didn't take long for the team to announce that they would not be accommodating White's trade request. Then, once training camp rolled around at the end of July, Devin White reported. So despite a rather dramatic offseason, when he decided to join his teammates on the field at the Advent Health Training facility for camp, he appeared ready to attack the 2023 season as a Buccaneer, after all.

Now, two weeks into the NFL season, it all feels like water under the bridge.
Not only are the Buccaneers 2-0, but Devin White put together an explosive Week 1 performance in the team's impressive road victory over the Minnesota Vikings. And even though we're just two weeks into the NFL season, Todd Bowles' defense looks like a force to be reckoned with.
Devin White is a big reason why.
But what about the future? Is it a foregone conclusion that Devin White will seek a big-money contract outside of Tampa? Does he still want to be a Buccaneer long-term?
You don't want to get ahead of yourself when trying to answer these types of questions. There's a lot to be determined between now and the end of the season. But that being said, it appears as though Devin White is extremely happy to be where he is at this point in time.

Commenting on a post from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' official Instagram account this morning, White showed some remorse for the trade request he made in the offseason.
"This defense is so fun to be a part of. I'm stupid for trying to leave ! Young fast physical steppers."
There's no question that this public display of affection for his team and situation is very encouraging. Especially considering what transpired during the offseason. That said, I wouldn't put too much stock into this comment in terms of how it impacts Devin White's future with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
There are still fifteen regular season games to be played. And above all else, the NFL is, and always will be, a business.
Still, it's nice to see that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' stud linebacker is all-in with the Bucs for 2023.
