Buccaneers Starting Corner In Danger Of Missing Home Opener Against Bears
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers released their second injury report of the week and it may be time to start worrying about the health of starting cornerback Carlton Davis.
BucsGameday's JC Allen is reporting Davis is dealing with a turf toe injury that could sideline him for Sunday's home opener against the Chicago Bears
Turf toe is a tricky injury to deal with for athletes. A mild case can sideline a player for up to three weeks. In a worst-case scenario, a severe injury can knock out a player for up to six months. It doesn't seem like Davis' injury is the severe kind but after missing two straight practices it is unlikely he will suit up on Sunday.

All eyes will be on the starting corner for Friday's practice. If he is out there with his teammates chances are he'll try and tough it out against the Bears. If Davis isn't able to play on Sunday, it would likely thrust second-year cornerback Zyon McCollum into the starting lineup opposite Jamel Dean.
Other highlights on the injury report include a move in a positive direction for rookie nickelback Christian Izien. After missing Wednesday's practice due to a "concussion" he was upgraded to a limited status on Thursday. Defensive lineman Calijah Kancey remains out dealing with a calf strain he re-aggravated in Sunday's victory over the Vikings. He is day-to-day after an MRI showed no further damage.
Quarterback Baker Mayfield was again a full participant with a right shoulder injury at practice. He is dealing with the ramifications of taking some shots while running the ball against the Vikings. While rookie linebacker Sirvocea Dennis popped up as limited with a hamstring injury.
As for the Bears, they have placed starting nickelback Kyler Gordon on injured reserve with a hand injury after missing practice on Wednesday.
