Bruce Arians on Christian McCaffrey, Saquon Barkley: 'They're on different planets'

Bucs head coach says there's no comparing two of the league's top backs.

Last Thursday night, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers defense shut down one of the NFL's most dynamic running backs in Carolina's Christian McCaffrey. This week, they'll face another one when they take on Saquon Barkley and the New York Giants.

Both versatile backs who can make plays on the ground and through the air, McCaffrey and Barkley are both adept at keeping opposing defensive coordinators up at night. But are they similar players?

Not quite, says Bucs head coach Bruce Arians.

"Oh, no. They're not the same. They're on different planets," Arians said Tuesday. "Saquon's bigger, faster, stronger. He's got more 50-yard runs than anybody I've seen, I think, in a long, long time."

Tampa Bay's new-look defense bottled up McCaffrey, but it looks like Arians is prepared for Barkley to bring a completely different set of problems Sunday afternoon.
