Former Buccaneers' Super Bowl Champion Running Back in Contact With Indianapolis Colts
The Indianapolis Colts perhaps have the worst running back room in the entire NFL. We are only entering week two of the NFL season, but with stud running back Jonathan Taylor on the PUP list - mainly due to not being able to reach an agreement with the team on an extension or finding a trade partner - the Colts were already going to be thin at the position.
Zack Moss is currently the starting RB for the Colts at the moment and following week one that room has gotten thinner as rookie Evan Hull is now on IR with a knee injury, moving Jake Funk up to the active 53-man roster.

With the Colts' dire situation at running back becoming more and more evident each passing week, they are starting to get in contact with veteran free agent running backs, including former Tampa Bay Buccaneer Leonard Fournette, according to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler.
"With several injuries at running back, the Colts are still monitoring the market. They've been in touch with free agents Kareem Hunt and Leonard Fournette. That's a position to watch in Indy as the Colts cycle through options."
Fournette would be entering just his 7th season in the league. For most players, this could be in the middle of their prime playing days, but for running backs, it is on the latter side of that prime and after his lackluster performance last season that only saw him muster 668 yards and 3 touchdowns on the ground while adding 523 receiving yards and 3 touchdowns it is evident that Fournette is not quite the back he used to be.
However, eclipsing 1,000 all-purpose yards is no easy feat in the NFL and Fournette was able to do that in a non-consistent offense last season with the Buccaneers. At this point, Fournette is probably looking to just play ball and will come into whichever situation with a chip on his shoulder ready to prove that he still has it.

If the Colts are indeed ready to take a chance on a guy like Fournette it would be better to do it sooner rather than later so as to not waste away Anthony Richardson's first season as their quarterback. Having a complimentary piece at the RB position will open up a number of other play calls and opportunities to excel at, ultimately resulting in better performances all-around and eventual W's.
