Lions Star Wide Receiver Likely to Return Against Buccaneers

Detriot Lions Head Coach Dan Campell is optimistic that their star receiver will return in week 6 against Tampa Bay.

Wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown missed the Lions' Week 5 matchup against the Carolina Panthers with an abdomen injury which happened vs Green Bay.

This was expected, as he was listed as doubtful on the Lions injury report after not participating in practice the entire week. But this was likely due to caution of re-injury.

On his weekly radio show Lions Head Coach Dan Campell said that the team had a hard time benching him last week.

"It’s not easy to put Saint down, as you can imagine,” said Campbell. “That's not something that he really wants to hear but it was the right thing to do.”

St. Brown is the number-one option in this offense with 26 catches, 331 yards, and two touchdowns in four games.

Other pass catchers stepped up in their win over the Panthers like rookie tight end Sam Laporta and Josh Reynolds each grabbing at least one touchdown, but getting back him will be crucial.

Campell went on to say that the team was optimistic about his chances to play against the Buccaneers.

“I feel pretty good about the possibility of him playing this week,” said Campell, “I think it's certainly more than questionable, I think it's closer to probable at this point.”

Impact rookies Brian Branch and Jahmyr Gibbs also missed the game against the Panthers with injuries. Both of their statuses are up in the air against Tampa Bay.

Branch did not participate in practice all week and was ruled out before the game. Gibbs was listed as doubtful after missing Wednesday and Thursday and being limited in practice on Friday.
