NFL Insider Speaks About Buccaneers Starting Quarterback Change
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers season is right around the halfway mark but even through eight games, there have been two sides to the story.
The Bucs got off to a hot start, going 3-1 against the likes of maybe some lesser competition, but since their surprising start they have yet to put another W in the win column - losing four consecutive contests.
The way the Buccaneers have lost has puzzled many fans as it seems to change from week to week. After relying heavily on their defense to keep them in games all season, the Tampa Bay defense was the side of the ball that let them down this past week in their 39-37 last-minute loss to rookie QB C.J. Stroud and the Houston Texans.

With things pretty dark and grey in Tampa Bay with the way things are heading right now some are wondering if the organization should make internal moves - whether that be play-calling or depth chart - at this point in the season.
One of those moves has been a conversation before, should Kyle Trask get an opportunity to show what he has as a starter over current Buccaneers' starting QB Baker Mayfield?
This notion of starting Trask first emerged after Tom Brady retired and even once Mayfield was brought in in the off-season before ultimately winning the QB competition that took place during training camp.
With things looking extremely shaky for the Buccaneers it is fair to wonder if this could be the opportunity for this move to happen, but according to FOX Sports' NFL Insider Jay Glazer right now is not that time for head coach Todd Bowles and the Bucs.
“You’re still in it in the [NFC] South," Glazer said. “So I think if they thought Kyle Trask could give us a better shot to win right now, we’d go over and do that. But I don’t think they believe that.”

“Look, they know what Kyle Trask can do. Right?” Glazer said. “They see him every day. They know what Baker Mayfield can do."
I tend to agree with Glazer here.
The NFC South is that of a crap-shoot and is still up in the air for pretty much the Falcons, Saints, or Buccaneers to win the division. So with that still being somewhat of an obtainable goal why throw in the towel just to give a career backup a shot to see what he can do even if that means continuing to pile up the losses.
Baker is Baker and you know what you are going to get with him. Baker hasn't necessarily lost the Buccaneers a game this season, so continuing to roll with him currently gives the team the best shot to start winning ball games again.
