Peter Schrager Picks Rachaad White as His Breakout Running Back for 2023

On Good Morning Football, Peter Schrager named Bucs' running back, Rachaad White, as his breakout player at the position for 2023.
In this story:

There's been a lot of confidence expressed throughout the offseason — at least in Tampa — regarding Rachaad White's potential emergence as a breakout running back for the Buccaneers this season.

It's not surprising that the majority of confidence being vocalized in favor of Rachaad White, as he enters his second season in the NFL, is coming primarily from the Bucs' fanbase. After all, I'm pretty sure local sports bias has been around since before dinosaurs roamed the Earth.

Well as it turns out, someone outside of Tampa is equally as bullish on Rachaad White's outlook for this season.

On Monday morning's episode of Good Morning FootballPeter Schrager of the NFL Network and NFL.com, made Rachaad White his pick for breakout running back of 2023.

Schrager offered up some reasons why he is so confident that the Buccaneers' third-round selection from the 2022 draft is poised to make a name for himself this season.

I love this guy's game. I love the message the Buccaneers made through free agency and through the draft. What did they do? Well, Leonard Fournette's no longer with the squad, Rachaad White is. And everyone thought that they would draft a running back on day 1... No. This is our guy. Rachaad White is our dude.

Schrager also acknowledged that the Bucs' "beefed up their O-line", which should help pave the way for the young Buc to do some damage in 2023.

In his closing statement, Schrager even made a specific prediction in terms of the type of production he expects to see from White this year.

"Rachaad White is my breakout running back, I would expect him to be in the top-10 when it comes to NFL rushing yards this season."

It didn't take long for the segment to gain the approval of the Bucs' new RB1 himself, either.

It's obvious that expectations for Rachaad White in his second season in Tampa are sky-high. At least for those who followed his rookie season with a keen eye. And based on the greater opportunity for White without Leonard Fournette in the picture, combined with a re-worked offensive line, it's clear that Peter Schrager is also a firm believer that the Bucs' young running back is in line for a breakout campaign in 2023.
