Possible Jersey Number Change for Buccaneers' Star Wide Receiver?
The Tom Brady era in Tampa Bay has officially come to a close, and even though there will be some changes, there is one thing that appears will remain the same following the future Hall of Famer's retirement.
Buccaneers' wide receiver, Chris Godwin, and his jersey number for the upcoming season have come under recent rumors that he will be changing his jersey number back to '12' from '14' now that Brady is no longer with the organization. However, in an interview with Athlon Sports, the super-consistent wideout indicated that he would most likely be sticking with No. 14.
“I wish that I could go back, man. But I think I’m stuck with 14. I think that’s gonna be me from now on. 12 has meant a lot to me, but I feel like it would be kinda weird going back right now. We’ll see. I won’t completely close the door, but odds are it’s probably 14.”

Prior to Tom Brady's arrival in Tampa Bay, Chris Godwin donned the No. 12 during his first three seasons with the Bucs, and was the same jersey number he had during his collegiate career with the Penn State Nittany Lions. Upon Brady's arrival, Godwin relinquished the No. 12 to the greatest quarterback of all time and decided to go with the No. 14.
Even with Brady now gone, it appears that Godwin will retain No. 14 - the number that he wore during the team's Super Bowl victory in 2020.
