Rachaad White Believes the Buccaneers Have a 'Great Shot' in the NFC South

White discussed his expectations for himself, the Buccaneers, and his impressions of Baker Mayfield during an appearance on Good Morning Football.
In this story:

Rachaad White did a great job of keeping his head down, his mouth closed, and doing his job as a rookie last year.

There's no reason to assume that won't occur again in his second NFL season. But with an improved offensive line, a new offensive coordinator, and his spot secure atop the team's running back depth chart, it's becoming clearer by the day that Rachaad White does not lack confidence.

And nor should he. White has the talent, versatility, and mindset to become a star.

In a recent appearance on Good Morning Football, Rachaad touched on a number of topics, including the belief he has in his teammates, and the Bucs' chances this season.

"We got big-time playmakers. We got Pro Bowlers, All-Pros, I mean you know them. I can name them. Mike, Chris, Lavonte, Vita I mean I can keep going... Tristan Wirfs, just guys like that. Good vets, even that haven't made a Pro Bowl or things like that. Jamel, Carlton, I think we're good. Like you said, it's wide open. We got a great shot."

He also spoke specifically about his expectations for himself in 2023.

"My expectation is really just do my job, be the guy Jason Licht wants me to be, but really just be myself. Go out there, have fun, hang loose. Obviously, the Bucs haven't had a 1,000-yard rusher in about eight years or so. So, I want to, of course, eclipse that."

Of course, they weren't going to let him get away without commenting on the Buccaneers' quarterback situation. In doing so, White shed some light on what he and his teammates appreciate about Baker Mayfield.

"Baker brings great energy. He's a great guy. Chip on his shoulder, which our team is big on that right now. So, just being that guy. Being confident. Just having the swagger, not as much swagger as me, but we're working on that."

There's no question, that if the Buccaneers are going to have a shot in the NFC South this season, they're going to need Rachaad White to play a big role. And if he's able to meet his goal, and rush for at least 1,000 yards, it would certainly go a long way towards achieving that.

If Baker Mayfield's swagger can translate into competent play under center, combined with White's expected production, and the proven play of the established veterans already in place on both sides of the ball, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers will be well on their way to proving doubters wrong this season.
