Steelers' Kenny Pickett Reveals One Goal for Preseason Game Against Buccaneers
The Pittsburgh Steelers will be making their way to Tampa Bay and Raymond James Stadium this weekend to face off against the Buccaneers on the opening weekend of NFL preseason games.
Unlike most other preseason games, the game between the Steelers and the Bucs will feature both starting quarterbacks in Kenny Pickett, and either Baker Mayfield or Kyle Trask. Most teams like to be cautious during preseason games and choose to sit their starter for a couple of games. However, for the Buccaneers and the Steelers, they still want to see more from who their starter will be to start week 1 of the regular season.
The Bucs situation is a bit different than that of the Steelers. The Buccaneers still have no inkling on who has a leg up in their QB battle between Trask and Mayfield, so they will start Mayfield against the Steelers and then Trask the following week.

For Pittsburgh and Kenny Pickett, they want to see if he has progressed from year 1 to year 2 and see what kind of chemistry the 1s have in live action against another team.
Either way, we will most likely only see Pickett in there for the Steelers for a drive or two before they replace him with a backup. However, this isn't stopping the second-year QB from constructing and trying to reach a goal.
“It’s being where I need them to be at the time that I’m ready to be there,” Pickett said. “I think that’s kind of it. When my eyes get to where I want to throw it, as they’re coming out of their breaks and that timing and anticipation is there. I think the chemistry is where we need to be.”

Pickett will have his hands full on Friday evening as the Buccaneers defense once again returns a handful of players that help round out a former top defense in the league. These live snaps are important but don't expect Pickett to come out looking to put people on notice in games that don't matter.
