Contract Incentives for Buccaneers Quarterback Baker Mayfield Revealed
Baker Mayfield was signed to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on a one-year prove-it deal in 2023. He proved it, and he got paid.
Mayfield received the biggest contract of his career from the Bucs before the 2024 season, getting a deal in place before free agency with a three-year contract worth up to $115 million. Less than half of that is guaranteed at $50 million, but if Mayfield goes the extra mile, he can get some extra cash.
FOX Sports' Greg Auman put together a thread on social media going over all of his incentives, and as it turns out, a lot of them are similar to the ones that were set for him in 2023.
In total, Mayfield can make an extra $5 million a year through his incentives split between regular season statistics and playoff success. Mayfield was able to secure $2.85 million in incentives last year, and he has a chance to earn some more money in every year of his three-year deal.

Mayfield has five different incentives he can hit in the regular season. Should he finish in the top 10 in the NFL or top 5 in the NFC in touchdown passes, passer rating, passing yards, completion percentage or yards per pass, he'll get $500,000 — as such, he has the potential to earn an extra $2.5 million every year in the regular season.
Then, of course, come the playoffs. He can make the remaining $2.5 million here — he earns $500,000 for a win in the Wild Card Round (or a first-round bye from earning the No. 1 seed), $750,000 for a Divisional Round victory, $500,000 for winning the conference championship game and then another $750,000 if Mayfield takes the Bucs to the promised land and wins a Super Bowl.
As you can see, the more Baker Mayfield bakes, the more money he earns. And the team is unlikely to be too upset about paying these incentives, should Mayfield hit them, as it would mean that the Bucs really did find their franchise quarterback.
