Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ Decent Odds to Land Lamar Jackson in 2023
Contract talks on an extension between superstar quarterback, Lamar Jackson, and the Baltimore Ravens broke down this week ultimately leading the Ravens to place the non-exclusive franchise tag on Jackson.
The conversations on the two reaching a contract extension have been in the works for a while now, but from Baltimore's side, Jackson is looking for too much money.
Unlike the exclusive franchise tag, the non-exclusive franchise tag allows any team in the NFL to negotiate a long-term deal with Lamar Jackson, however, the Ravens, if they so choose so, can match the offer. If the Ravens choose not to much said offer, they are expected to receive two first-round picks from the signing team.

Jackson has a decision to make now, as the Ravens have made it known that he is limited with his options at this point. The former Heisman Trophy winner has consistently shown his love for playing for the Baltimore Ravens, so it will be interesting to see what his response is following the non-exclusive franchise tag.
With the Jackson/Ravens relationship possibly spoiling, odds on the quarterback's next destination come 2023 have come out via sportsline.com.

According to SportsLine, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have the eight best odds to land the All-Star quarterback in 2023.
It is no surprise that the Bucs are in need of a quarterback. Yes, they have Kyle Trask, but he is still young and has yet to really see any NFL action. Going after a guy like Lamar Jackson will cost them though. The team got lucky that Brady helped them when it came to taking "pay-cuts", but we have already seen that Jackson will make sure that he gets his. Not to mention, the style of play Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens play are very unique, and moving onto another team, like the Bucs, could cause for an offensive staff to completely change around their offensive scheme.

Intriguing, yes, realistic, not so much. It is hard not to imagine and hope for a talent like Lamar Jackson to come to Tampa Bay, but at what cost? Ultimately it won't be worth it for the Buccaneers in all facets to go after him now or later.
