Tampa Bay Buccaneers Offseason Outlook: Special Teams Position
As the Tampa Bay Buccaneers shift their focus to the offseason, there are question marks at every position on the roster. In this series, we’ll look at each position grouping and see what the Bucs have on the roster who is an impending free agent, and the outlook for the 2024 season.
On The Roster
P Jake Camarda
Camarda's play tailed off towards the end of the season but he still averaged over 50 yards per punt and set Bucs team records in 2023 for distance. he had a net mounting average of 41 yards and downed 26 punts inside the 20.
LS Evan Deckers
Deckers signed with the Bucs as an undrafted free agent in 2023 and was with the team through training camp. He was waived during final cuts but was brought back to the practice squad later in the season when starter Zach Triner was dealing with an injury. He never played a snap for the Bucs though and was signed to a futures contract in January.

Impending Free Agents
K Chase McLaughlin
The Bucs found a gem in McLaughlin this season. He signed with the team on a minimum deal and beat out Rodrigo Blankenship in a training camp kicker battle. From there he went on to boom 29 of 31 of his attempts with his two misses coming on blocks. He was 7-8 on field goals 50 yards or more and had a season-long of 57. It will take a significant raise to keep him this offseason but he should be one of the Bucs' top offseason priorities and has stated his desire to remain in Tampa Bay.
LS Zach Triner
Triner has been the team's long-snapper since 2019 and hasn't missed a game. He played through injury this season and is likely to be back with the Bucs in 2024.
2024 Outlook
The Bucs will likely return their entire special team unit in 2024 with the re-signings of McLauhin and Triner imminent. If for some reason the Bucs can't reach a deal with McLaughlin there is a decent group of free agents at the position including former Buccaneers Greg Joseph.
