The Buccaneers created space on their 53-man roster after waiving a running back on Friday.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers announced on Friday that they waived former third-round pick Ke'Shawn Vaughn. The fourth-year running back was a part of the Buccaneers' Super Bowl win in 2021.

This move seemingly creates some space on the Buccaneers' 53-man roster where they can now assess their options. According to Greg Auman, the Buccaneers are likely to sign Deadrin Senat to the active roster.

"Vaughn was originally drafted by the Buccaneers in the third round (No. 76 overall) of the 2020 NFL Draft. Across 43 games over four seasons with Tampa Bay, he logged 103 carries for 384 yards and two touchdowns, while adding 14 receptions for 81 yards and one touchdown. Vaughn also contributed 22 career postseason carries for 74 yards and one touchdown," the Buccaneers released in a statement on Friday.

After four seasons of being able to climb the Buccaneers' depth chart, this seemed to be a productive way for the team to create roster space and lose no production on the field. This season, Vaughn appeared in five games and had 24 carries for 42 yards -- good for 1.8 yards per carry.

With Rachaad White being the team's starting running back, he's now backed up by Chase Edmonds and Sean Tucker.

Again, this room creates space for the Buccaneers to sign someone who will be able to play for the Buccaneers by Sunday as they take on the Green Bay Packers on the road.

Senat, who is expected to be the player the Buccaneers will sign with the open roster spot, is a 29-year-old defensive tackle in his fifth season in the NFL. He has spent time over the last two seasons with the Buccaneers, having appeared in 14 games with Tampa Bay. He had one sack with the team in the 2022 season along with his 17 total tackles.
