Tom Brady Preparing For His Next Move In The Sporting World

Brady is continuing to add more obligations to his plate since his retirement from playing professional football.

Former NFL star Tom Brady has continued to stay busy since his retirement from playing professional football earlier this year. After previously signing a deal to join FOX Sports as a commentator in a deal that will begin in 2024, he's added a couple of other titles to his resume.

Those distinctions include minority ownership roles with the WNBA's Las Vegas Aces and NFL's Las Vegas Raiders. He also invested in a Major League Pickleball expansion team last year.

It's time to add team owner in the UIM E1 World Championship to his growing list of obligations. The league's first season is expected to begin in 2024 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

Brady joins a star-studded group of team owners that include legendary tennis player Rafael Nadal, former Chelsa soccer star Didier Drogba, and F1 legend Sergio Perez. He's excited to have found another avenue to express his competitive energy.

"Well, I think what naturally gets me excited is, I can't play football anymore. I need to compete and I've got to win. And I've got to be involved in competitive sports and I love that. I think sport has been a part of my life for the last 35 years. I've loved every bit of competition that I've ever had," Brady said according to a release from E1. "And I think for me in this second part of my life, to still be involved in it, in a meaningful way, is very important. I love people challenging and disrupting industries, I love people who are thinking about ways to innovate and I love the ability of great competitors from all around the world. Rafa's (Rafael Nadal) a part of this. Didier Drogba. Sergio Perez. So, you have other great competitors as well and I think all of us have a great need for continuing to find ways to compete at the highest level."

The UIM E1 World Championship is the first all-electric race boat championship in the world. It is sanctioned by the Union Internationale Motonautique (UIM), the governing body for all powerboating activities. The championship will have up to ten teams and 20 mixed-gender pilots competing in cities around the world.

The United States is expected to host a race in season 2.

"I think the similar values of what E1 is all about are things that I've believed in now for a while as well. And I think the world is heading toward a more sustainably conscious model of living, but as it relates to sports, how can we bring these environmental aspects to what we're doing?" Brady said. "And I think there's been a lot of conscious thought put into this championship. All the way from our travel, to the boats in themselves and the things that we're going to do at the races in order to bring these communities together to really exemplify what they're doing in terms of conservation and environmental impact as well. Because those things are very important for ourselves, yes certainly now, but in the future too, this is the way that the world is heading and I think we want to be at the forefront of change."

It's clear that Brady is aiming to continue the success that he cultivated between the lines into the next chapter of his career.

The seven-time Super Bowl Champion spent 23 years in the NFL. He played his first 20 seasons for the New England Patriots before joining the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for the final three years of his career. Brady completed 7,753/12,050 passes for 89,214 passing yards with 649 touchdown passes to 212 interceptions.
