Two Starters Will Be Out In The Buccaneers Home Opener

The Buccaneers could be without two of their defensive starters against the Chicago Bears in their home opener.
In this story:

Carlton Davis and Calijah Kancey could be out for the Buccaneers home opener versus the Bears on Sunday. Both players were injured in the Buccaneers' Week 1 win over the Vikings.

Kancey was dealing with a calf injury that came up at the beginning of training camp and led to him missing the entire pre-season and most of camp.

He returned for Week 1 against the Vikings but got injured again and exited the game. He did not participate in any day of practice this week.

Against the Bears, Logan Hall and Mike Greene will see the field more with Kancey missing the game. Hall will get an elevated role in the matchup.

Davis is dealing with what the Buccaneers have listed as a toe injury and has not participated in any practice this week for the Buccaneers. Since being drafted in 2018 to the Buccaneers Davis has never played in a full 16 or (now) 17-game season.

With him out against the Bears, 2022 5th-round pick Zyon McCollum will replace him as the starting corner opposite Jamel Dean.

On Friday Todd Bowles informed the media that Davis could miss the game and Kacney has missed every day of practice.

In Regards to Carlton Davis:

"He could miss the game" He said they have all the confidence in Zyon McCollum and he will get the start if Davis misses.

In Regards to Calijah Kancey:

"No update, he has missed every day of practice" With him missing every day of practice it is unlikely that he will be able to play on Sunday.
