Cardinals S Budda Baker Sends Cryptic Tweet
We're just days away from the Arizona Cardinals beginning training camp, and the contract situation of Budda Baker has yet to be resolved.
It was months ago where the public was made aware of Baker's demands to either be paid the highest at his position (something his agent has since refuted) or traded to a new team. Baker, just 27-years-old, has two years remaining on his deal with no guaranteed money.
Earlier this morning, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported the following:
"Cardinals’ Pro Bowl safety Budda Baker, who did not get the trade that he requested this off-season but still is seeking to be paid near the top of the safety market, is expected to report to training camp with the rest of his teammates Tuesday."
Schefter has been mostly plugged into the Baker dilemma since it first began, though his recent report wasn't exactly shocking after the All-Pro safety recently told 12 News' Cam Cox he would be there "when it matters". Baker was in the facility for mandatory minicamp but did not openly practice.
The same can be expected once training camp rolls around, as Baker could very well utilize the "hold-in" strategy until a new deal is done.
There's been an overall good feeling on Baker's chances to remain in Arizona, something the Cardinals would love despite being in the early stages of their rebuild.
Yet Baker's most recent tweet - likely a response to Schefter's report - was interesting to say the least:
It appears Baker's contract standoff with the Cardinals won't be over anytime soon.
