Cardinals 'Humbled' by Weather, Vikings in Joint Practice
The Arizona Cardinals are used to the heat, but such is life when living in the desert. If you've ever spoke with somebody from Arizona, you've likely heard the phrase "but it's a dry heat" uttered - which is true.
The Cardinals - who play and hold training camp at State Farm Stadium and have utilzed their newly renovated bubble for practices during the week - found out exactly what humidity was in their first joint practice held with the Minnesota Vikings on Wednesday up at the Twin Cities Orthopedics Performance Center in Minnesota.
The Vikings - fresh off a 13-4 campaign - are no easy team to compete against.
"We wanted to perform better today, but football is a humbling game and we got an opportunity to come back and be better tomorrow, so just looking forward to the bounce back," said running back James Conner after what appeared to be a lackluster day offensively.
"We just got to be better - simple as that."
WR Zach Pascal said the humidity was a tough challenge for the Cardinals:
"We had to buy in and accept the challenge with the heat, come out here and work," said Pascal after practice.
"You could tell it was effecting a lot of guys, [there was] a lot of sweat. Us coming from the desert, a dry heat, coming out here in the humidity - it was good. It was good for us, honestly. We needed a little adversity, battle through some things, get mentally tough and continue to work."
Video from 12 News' Cameron Cox:
Arizona's offense didn't receive glaring reviews in practice, especially when it came to assumed starting quarterback Colt McCoy, who threw a handful of picks in individual and team activities against Minnesota's defense.
It appears rookie receiver Michael Wilson is continuing a strong training camp/preseason, however.
The Cardinals have one more practice scheduled for tomorrow with Minnesota before a walk-thru on Friday with their preseason finale on Saturday.
