Cardinals HC Jonathan Gannon Praises Mike Tomlin, Steelers

The Arizona Cardinals spoke nothing short of pristine on Mike Tomlin and his Pittsburgh Steelers.

ARIZONA -- The Arizona Cardinals have yet another daunting task ahead of them as the regular season moves along, as the 2-10 ball club travels into the frigid temperatures of Acrisure Stadium to battle the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Terrible towels. Renegade. A stadium full of Yinzers who bleed black and gold. It's not often included in the territories of Arrowhead or Seattle in terms of tough places to play, though Pittsburgh is no walk in the park.

Cardinals head coach Jonathan Gannon knows that from a few trips to the Burgh himself. Today, he met with reporters and spoke on his admiration for Mike Tomlin and the challenges Arizona will face on Sunday.

Earlier this week, Gannon was asked about responding to the low energy he described after Week 12's loss to the Los Angeles Rams.

“The first part to that question is me in how I set up the week. Just how we decided to go about this last week, I take a good hard look at that. Then from there we talked to the team about it—and that’s what I say to the coaches too, I call it sustained positive enthusiasm. You have to be able to do that when it’s inconvenient and that’s hard. You have to be able to do that to give yourself a chance to win. That was just my feeling walking off the field and watching the tape," said Gannon.

"Like I said, the effort was there. We didn’t have guys pulling out of the game, we didn’t have guys loafing and we didn’t have guys turning down hits, which are first the first markers that I look for if we’re into it or not. We didn’t have any of that. I think I just want a little more—what I told the team today was I need to see a little more juice and energy on the sideline when we come off all three phases. The want to, when we get back out there, to make positive things happen.”
