Cardinals QB Kyler Murray More Motivated Than Ever
ARIZONA -- Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray is set to make his return to action after nearly a full year of recovery from a torn ACL and meniscus.
"I think everything happened for a reason - I've been missing it a ton," Murray told reporters earlier this week.
It's been a long season for the Cardinals, who have already cycled through two other starting quarterbacks in 2023 with Joshua Dobbs and Clayton Tune. Murray's arrival hopes to spark a new energy in Arizona's offense that's largely been dormant as of late.
It's also been a long season for Murray, a competitor at heart that was relegated to the sidelines for the first half of the year.
"I just feel like I gained a new level of resiliency from this," Murray said. "I already felt like I had that chip on my shoulder, never out of anything, never down. When you go through something like this, you find out really quick about who you are and what you're about."
Best friend and Cardinals No. 1 receiver Marquise Brown said Murray is as motivated as ever. For as much chatter as there's been around Murray playing on the field, his future in 2024 and beyond has been a frequent talking point on the national perspective.
Murray said he wouldn't dive into details of why he was motivated, but he didn't deny Brown's claim.
"I can't get into all the thought process behind why - there's so many reasons why, but I would say that's accurate," said Murray.
"I don't play this game for anybody other than - obviously God has blessed me with the ability to do what I do - but for me and my family and the people that believe in me, that's why."
Murray concluded his press conference with one simple statement:
"I'm ready to go."
