Larry Fitzgerald Praises Kyler Murray's Growth, Maturity
You'll be pressed to find a more respected member of the Arizona Cardinals than Larry Fitzgerald.
Since his introduction to the league as the No. 3 pick in the 2004 NFL Draft, Fitzgerald has been considered the gold standard for not only style of play on the field, but also how he carries himself away from the game as well.
If there was a picture next to the term "professional" in the dictionary, you'd find Fitzgerald's face next to it.
As such, Fitzgerald's words are worth their weight in gold. When he speaks - people listen.
Fitzgerald recently met with 12 News' Cameron Cox and discussed current Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray - who has been the subject of plenty of controversy since his own arrival to the league.
Murray was recently called out by right tackle Kelvin Beachum for his immaturity, echoing a sentiment many fans here in the desert feel.
However, Fitzgerald says he's heard great and positive things on Murray:
“He's gonna be chomping at the bit to go out there and pick up where he left off as a Pro Bowl performer," said Fitzgerald.
"I'm excited for him. I’ve heard he’s really developing and building relationships with people in the building. The natural maturation process is taking place. That bodes well for not only him but it bodes well for Cardinals players, organization and fans who pull for him.
"I haven't been around him in three years - in a work environment. Last time I saw him and I was around him, he was a young player. I’ve heard positive things from (former) teammates that he’s really taking an active role in building strong relationships. … I hear he’s doing more of that and that made me happy.”
Fitzgerald pointed to Carson Palmer and Kurt Warner as examples of players going the extra mile like Murray is doing now.
"That goes a long way, because when he asks you to do something, you know it's coming from a good place - that's only built and developed when you open yourself up to people," said Fitzgerald.
