Cardinals Release Inactives; Brown, Ertz Will Play vs Commanders

The Arizona Cardinals released their list of inactive players today, and the Washington Commanders.

The Arizona Cardinals have released their list of inactives ahead of their Week 1 meeting with the Washington Commanders, and they received good news on two key offensive players.

WR Marquise Brown and TE Zach Ertz - both questionable to play heading into today - are active for Arizona. Both players were limited in practice all three days during the week.

The Cardinals will look to rely on Brown as their WR1 after the departure of DeAndre Hopkins. During Hopkins' six-game suspension last season, Brown filled the role quite well, and there's hope that can happen again in 2023.

Ertz himself wasn't sure if he'd play in Week 1 after spending the entire offseason rehabbing a torn ACL/MCL suffered in 2022. He was removed from the PUP list during preseason.

"I don't think it's for certain, by any means," Ertz told reporters. "There are still some things I need to go through, still some things (from which) I need to recover. Practice consistent days in a row. It's not something, 'Zach, go play.'"

Both will be key for QB Josh Dobbs as he continues to get acclimated to his new team after being traded to Arizona roughly two weeks ago.

The Cardinals also elevated offensive lineman Jackson Barton and safety Andre Chachere as standard practice squad elevations.

The Commanders received good news earlier this week when WR Terry McLaurin was removed from the injury report with a toe injury. DE Chase Young was reportedly ruled out on Saturday with a neck injury and is expected to miss multiple weeks.

Kickoff is at 10 AM AZ time.
