Cardinals Get (Some) Respect Around Week 3 NFL Power Rankings

The Arizona Cardinals still sit winless in the 2023 regular season and have split opinions in recent batches of NFL power rankings.
In this story:

The Arizona Cardinals have flashed signs of strong play in their first two weeks of play under new head coach Jonathan Gannon, though that hasn't been enough to convince power rankers to move them up in spite of the 0-2 record that currently resides in the desert.

Cardinals Get (Some) Respect Around Week 3 NFL Power Rankings

The Arizona Cardinals have fought hard under head coach Jonathan Gannon, though they are 0-2 heading into a brutal matchup with the Dallas Cowboys in Week 3.

CBS Sports (32): "They have played close in two games, but lost. Isn't that the best thing for the tanking for Caleb Williams?"

Pro Football Talk (32): "Are they getting blown out? No. Still, if you’re at the bottom of the barrel, you don’t climb by losing."

USA Today (30): "This club is loaded with 0-2-caliber talent but seems to have 2-0-caliber heart and spirit, which is best exemplified by QB Josh Dobbs trucking Giants S Xavier McKinney on the way to the end zone Sunday."

NFL.com (32): "The Cardinals did more offensively in the first half against the Giants than they did over four quarters in the Week 1 loss to the Commanders. That was the good news. The bad? Despite leading 20-0 at halftime and 28-7 midway through the third quarter, Arizona collapsed in the second half. … Still, the run game improved, and Joshua Dobbs had some really nice moments. The Cardinals might be better than I realized in some respects, but they also blew a three-TD lead in the final 20 minutes."

Bleacher Report (32): "To his credit, Dobbs has played better than most expected over his first two starts of the season. And the Cardinals have been in both contests this season right up until the end. But for whatever reason, the wins haven't come. With Dallas up next on the schedule, that probably isn't changing in Week 3."

Yahoo! (31): "The Cardinals are better than I figured. They led the Commanders and Giants in the first two weeks of the season and were more effective on both sides of the ball than anticipated. They blew both games (ultimately that's not bad for the organization, as we know), but this might not be the worst team in the NFL."

Up next for Arizona is another home date, this time with Dallas Cowboys.
