Cardinals Week 15 Power Ranking Roundup
ARIZONA -- The Arizona Cardinals are off their bye week and ready to attack Week 15's monster matchup with the San Francisco 49ers.
Feeling rested and recharged, the Cardinals hope they can build momentum in their final four games of the season.
“We’ve been at it for a long time. I know they had a little pep in their step," Jonathan Gannon said yesterday.
As we explore the power ranking depths of Week 15, the Cardinals are as high as No. 25 and as low as No. 31:
CBS Sports: No. 25
Pete Prisco: "They come off their bye with a tough game against the 49ers. They are playing for next year anyway."
ESPN: No. 30
Josh Weinfuss: "With Kyler Murray under center, the Cardinals' passing game has improved in droves from Week 1, when Joshua Dobbs was operating an offense he had spent just two weeks in at that point. The Cardinals averaged 6.3 yards per completion in Week 1 and averaged 11.2 in Week 13, their most recent game. Arizona's passing yards per dropback has also jumped two yards from 3.5 to 5.5 since Week 1. Murray's return had a lot to do with that, as did offensive coordinator Drew Petzing's experience in the system with this crop of players, giving him almost three months to figure out how his receivers, running backs, tight ends and offensive line can work in tandem."
Bleacher Report: No. 31
Staff: "These last four games may well be the biggest of Murray's NFL career. The Cardinals are in the mix for a high enough draft pick to at least consider hitting the reset button under center, as expensive though that may be.
"The much easier scenario for the organization is building around the quarterback it gave a $230.5 million contract."
NFL.com: No. 29
Eric Edholm: "It was a quality bye week, one would assume, for the Cardinals. They got to enjoy their road victory over the Steelers and then sit back and watch the Patriots and Jets both win, potentially helping their 2024 NFL Draft positioning. Arizona has two first-round picks, its own and Houston’s. The Texans losing to the Jets damaged Houston's chances of making the postseason, and if it misses, the Cardinals would receive a top-18 pick. The Patriots and Cardinals both carry 3-10 records into the home stretch, and though the Patriots currently hold the No. 2 overall pick, that easily could shift over the final month. But Jonathan Gannon has coached like a man who wants to win, so it’ll be fascinating to see how competitive the Cardinals are in these remaining games."
