The Arizona Cardinals are officially wiping their hands clean from Isaiah Simmons as of this morning.

The Cardinals struck a deal with the New York Giants to send Simmons to new beginnings for a 2024 seventh-round pick.

Simmons - used as a top-ten pick in the 2020 NFL Draft - never quite found his footing in the desert after being used at multiple positions. The Cardinals declined his fifth-year option this offseason and felt now was a move best for both sides.

He will reportedly be used as a linebacker by Giants DC Wink Martindale.

There's been a slew of reactions from Cardinals fans and social media, though former teammate DeAndre Hopkins also threw his two cents in, saying New York "got a steal" for a seventh-round pick in Simmons:

Hopkins himself departed the organization this summer too, though he was released after a long offseason of trade speculation. He and Simmons - thanks to their Clemson connection - became close friends in Arizona and they continued to train together through this offseason.

Some shade being thrown? Perhaps just a little, though Hopkins appears to be happier with the Tennessee Titans after taking his time to find a new squad in free agency.

The Giants play the Cardinals back in Arizona for Week 2 of the regular season - we know who Hopkins will be rooting for.
