Marquise Brown 'Disappointed' in Cardinals Offense
ARIZONA -- The Arizona Cardinals offense marched down the field on their opening drive, scored, and successfully completed a two-point conversion to hold an early 8-7 lead over the Los Angeles Rams.
Arizona looked to be equipped for a shootout at State Farm Stadium, though the Cardinals wouldn't find the end zone again until minutes remaining in the 37-14 loss.
It was an afternoon to forget for Arizona's offense - led by Kyler Murray in his third game back - that failed to gather any momentum after their opening drive, as their next five possessions went four plays or fewer.
Marquise Brown spoke on the team's performance with reporters in the locker room:
On the offense’s struggles after the opening drive touchdown:
“I’m disappointed. It’s tough. Not really many words for it other than I’m disappointed.”
On the reason behind the offense’s struggles:
“Not executing. That’s what happened. Went down, didn’t convert on third down, had penalties, didn’t make our plays so that’s what happened.”
On if there was frustration when the offense couldn’t gain first downs:
“Yes. I know in the first quarter we might’ve had a possession or two. It was just one of those games where you have to convert because the other team is using their time of possession and once it gets limited, they go up a couple of scores and it gets tough.”
On how the offense can fix it’s issues:
“You start Monday. Practice, and then from practice you’ve got to bring it onto the field. You can’t do it in practice and then not do it on gameday. These are the results.”
On if he feels like the team is pressing when the offense can’t sustain success:
“No. I don’t think we are pressing. I think we’re not executing. All of us have to be on the same page. It’s a game of inches so you have got to execute.”
On what the team’s mindset will be over the last five games:
“Just get better, individually and collectively. Get better and keep playing as a team, stay together and I feel like we’ll be alright.”
