Pair of Cardinals Receivers Could Breakout in 2023
The Arizona Cardinals have plenty of unknown heading into the 2023 season, but opportunity will be there for numerous names to emerge on different spots throughout the roster.
While some positions such as safety and offensive tackle are settled in stone, depth at positions like wide receiver will be open for the taking after the departure of DeAndre Hopkins.
Marquise Brown is fully expected to take the next step and emerge as Arizona's WR1 - but who will follow in his footsteps?
While rookie Michael Wilson has impressed people around the facility during the offseason and veteran Zach Pascal has proven valuable in his own right, Bleacher Report says the duo of either Rondale Moore or Greg Dortch could burst on the scene in 2023.
The Case for Greg Dortch
Kristopher Knox: "Whether it's Murray or Colt McCoy under center in Week 1, Arizona will be operating without star receiver DeAndre Hopkins, who was released earlier this offseason. Greg Dortch could play a big role in making the passing attack work.
"Dortch entered the league as an undrafted free agent in 2019 and spent time on several practice squads before recording his first career reception with the Cardinals in 2021. He came on late last season, finishing with 52 receptions for 467 yards and two touchdowns while providing a passer rating of 107.5 when targeted.
"Of Dortch's 52 receptions, 27 came in his final six games. He'll have a chance to become Arizona's primary slot specialist this season, and if he can build on his late 2022 success, he could be a notable factor for both the Cardinals and fantasy managers alike."
The Case for Rondale Moore
David Kenyon: "Yes, there's a small asterisk with Rondale Moore. Had he stayed healthy last season, Moore easily would have surpassed 500 yards.
"Injuries limited him to 414 yards in eight games, however, so the Arizona Cardinals hit pause on a breakout year. That possibility remains in 2023, no matter when quarterback Kyler Murray (knee) is ready.
"Marquise Brown should be the Cardinals' key receiver, but DeAndre Hopkins' departure opens up 96 targets. Moore is well-positioned to command a strong number of those passes.
"And he certainly should score more, too. Through two years, he's managed a lone touchdown in each season.
"Moore's production is set to rise significantly, despite the likelihood that Arizona has a disappointing record."
